Tonight I decided to put a short photo book together to use as a sign in/guest book for the party on Saturday. I really don’t even honestly know how you go about capturing, or even summarizing 95 years of a human life...none the less Cliff Topel’s. Of course I only had about 20 years plus some odds and ends of previously scanned photos, but it’s such a small snippet of the multitude of what Cliff’s life has already been. The lives he has touched, the lessons he’s learned, the things he has taught, the people he has helped, the paths he has paved, the difficulties he has suffered, the hours he has worked, the miles he has travelled, the vehicles he has towed, fixed, and assisted, the sickness he has endured, the places he has visited, and on and on. As I searched through years of snapshots, I couldn’t help but think of how they portray not only what Cliff is, but who he is. A husband, a father, grandfather, father-in-law, a friend, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a business owner, an entrepreneur, a member of the Lake Mills community, the towing community, the car club community, St.Paul Lutheran Church, and a distinguished man who would give the shirt off his back before wearing one himself. I cannot say how truly blessed I am to call him my father-in-law and how much I hope this weekend can be a party of all parties that this legend in his own time truly deserves. If you stop by on Saturday, please be sure to take a moment to share your wishes and thoughts with Cliff. He has no idea how he has made this world and our lives a better place. I sure wish he did, but I don’t think his humility would ever let him.

Do you change your own oil?

Growing up,I spent a lot of time in the garage with my dad as he worked on his vehicles.  It was something he enjoyed doing in his spare time and I liked hanging out with him.

Here it is, years later and we own a big garage that needs lots of heat to keep our workers warm!

If you are like my dad and like to do your own oil changes, we have a special offer for you!

  1. Order your oil and filters through us at a discounted rate.  (Just call with the year, make, model, and engine size or if you already know the filter number and viscosity of oil you prefer, that works, too)
  2. You can drop your used oil off at the shop, day or night-just set it out front and we will get it in the morning!  Or e-mail us when yours is ready to be picked up (within city limits of Lake Mills)  We will stop by within a day.
  3. Schedule a free courtesy inspection up to two times a year.  We will provide you with a copy of your 30 point inspection and notify you of any maintenance that may be due on your vehicle.
You can call us at 920-648-8115 or e-mail us at tara.topel@gmail.com to take advantage of our Engine Oil Exchange Program.  It's a win-win!  You help us, we help you!
(You can take advantage of one or all of the above mentioned benefits of the program.  It is not necessary to do all to qualify)

Supporting Sarah

Supporting
Sarah

October is a big month for us here at Topel’s Towing & Service Center.  Not only is it Car Care Awareness month, it is also Breast Cancer Awareness month.  We want you to know how important it is to take care of your car.  Sarah Garde wants you to know how important it is to take care of your body.  This month we are joining Sarah in her fight against Breast Cancer.

Here is Sarah's Story:

Sarah Garde is 33 years old.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 0f 2012.  She is a single mother of a 5 year old girl, Vivian.

Sarah us unable to work due to surgery and treatments.
  • Had a double mastectomy in June
  • Out of 16 lymphoids 3 were infected with cancer
  • The tumor measured 3 inches in diameter
  • Has had 4 treatments of A-C chemotherapy (considered the "Red Devil" of Chemo), a single strong double dose of chemo drubs
  • On her second cycle of 12 more chemo treatments, which continue until Christmas
  • After that, will start her 33 radiation treatments (five days a week) that will last another 6 1/2 weeks
  • Then will have to wait 6 months after radiation to be able to go through reconstruction
  • Will have to be on a hormone replacement pill for the next 5 years.
Sarah has NO family history of breast cancer.  She did regular check-ups with her doctor.  In 2001, Sarah had been to the doctor and there were no signs of lumps in the breast.  Give or take 6 months and the tumor grew large enough to be detected.

THIS IS WHY SARAH WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW HER STORY...

BECAUSE IT CAN HAPPEN SO QUICKLY.

"It's a great feeling to have the support of not only my family and friends, but also my community."
Sarah replied after a fundraiser for her at the Pine Cone Restaurant.
"Cancer can be a traumatic event for anyone of any age.  The thing people forget is that everyone around a person with cancer is also affected. A huge thank you to everyone who has been affected by my cancer and supported me with selfless acts of kindness, inspirational cards, financial contributions, laughter, and love."

A Convenience Coupon...

What price can you put on your time?

Whether you work out of the home, in the home, or both--have you ever wondered what the value of your time was?  Sure, people get paid by the hour or perhaps take home a weekly salary, but have you ever really sat down and figured out what your time is worth?

We know that one of the most difficult obstacles with getting a vehicle serviced is the mere idea of figuring out exactly when in your busy schedule you can get it in to the shop.

And then you have to figure out how to get it there...

When it will be done?

How you will get it picked up.

...When will you pay for it?

How will you get around during that time if something comes up?

Well doctors don't make house calls anymore and we don't either, but we have done our best here at Topel's Service Center to make it easier for you to get your vehicle serviced.

*Free Pick up/Drop off:  Working at home? In town? Work in town?  Let us come and pick up your vehicle and bring it back when we are done.  How do you pay?  We can collect cash or check at the time of drop off or if you prefer to pay with a credit card over the phone, we can do that as well.

*Free Loaner Vehicles:  Work out of town?  Have errands to run during the day?  Call ahead to schedule one of our loaner vehicles so you won't even miss not having a vehicle.  Now I didn't say you wouldn't miss having YOUR vehicle.  None the less it is a vehicle and do remember:  it's a loaner...as in temporary! ;)

*Night and weekend drop off:  Does it work best for you just to drop your vehicle off at night, early morning, or on the weekend?  There is a key drop in the door and envelopes can be found just to the right of the door in a small black mailbox.  We'll get your keys the next morning we are open and take it from there.

So see!  Easy.

  • No more excuses for getting your car to us to get it serviced.
  • No more having to take a day off to get your car worked on.
  • No more having to hassle your neighbor for a ride.
  • No more weekend or evening appointments while you sit and read magazines in a waiting room.

While one of our favorite parts of being here is spending time with our customers, we know you've got better things do to.  So do them.

We'll take care of the rest!
